The earliest known
appearance of the phrase was on July 2nd, 2019 from
a tweet posting a picture of rapper Juelz Santana,
but saying “Ima tell my kids in 2045 that this was
Obama.”
It then became a viral
meme caption soon after, framed around the idea of
silly white lies to rewrite history and mess with
your kids (although usually with no intention of
actually doing such a thing).
The memes range from pop
culture to political; some flat out untrue, while
others are simply just reframing references from
millennial youth in hilarious ways (some so
nonsensical that they exist purely for the most
niche of niche audiences).
